Rob meets Japan!
14.09.2008 - 21.09.2008 50 °C
Following the flight where I slept an hour (I blame the man next to me for having his arm over on my side the whole flight, abhorent.....ahhh if only I had flewn business.......) I succesfully got to my traditional Ryokan, I say traditional, with that I Include, basic, old and "rustic"! Felt rather minging due to the intense closeness of the air in Tokyo, muggy as a sauna really, however, the show must go on. Met with an old colleague Yuka which was lovely to see a famililar face on the other side of the globe, we explored the area I was staying in, Asakusa, taking in the Askusa Kannon Temple (you know the famous 4 storey tower with each roof a little smaller than the other....Pics to come soon!)
Saw a billion department stores in Shinjuku, boy do they like to shop here! Had Japanese dinner then had early night, nice first day.
I also saw a 60ish year old lady with the purplest hair I have ever seen.
The escalators are quiet, im sure in London they are the loudest ever.
They actually have people in the airport to assist in taking luggage off the conveyor belt, Gatwick take note.
